The commitment required by owners wanting to relinquish animals to the humane society.

The procedure for accepting an animal into the Shelby County Humane Society adoption program is established with the goal of saving as many animals from the fate of euthanasia as possible. We are a no kill facility which means that we don’t believe any adoptable animal should be euthanized. Consequently every animal that has a place to stay outside the shelter allows one more life to be saved inside the shelter for an animal that truly has nowhere else to go. Owners who work with our program partner with us by keeping their animal in their home until it can be adopted.
